What Now? by Matt Shannon
“What Now?” is THE book I’ve been waiting for someone to write! It’s a must read you’ll want to put in the hands of a teen who has just made the best decision of their life to accept Jesus’ offer of forgiveness and follow him.
Matt Shannon has put together a resource (with videos!) that is easy to read, and outlines a clear plan to get youth started in their faith. It reads like a starter kit for Christianity as it lays out the foundations to help you grow. Teens are taken through the gospel of Mark, with each chapter having a brief explanation to engage the reader with the text, questions to prompt thinking and reflection, and ending with a short prayer.
One of the features I love about the book is the way it doesn’t assume what someone might know about Christianity. Footnotes help explain Christian jargon throughout the book and bonus content covers some of the things you might be shy to ask like: How do you actually navigate your way around the Bible? What books are helpful to read? What online content is good to check out and follow?
I would recommend this book not only for teens but also as a helpful follow-up resource for new Christians with English as a second language, as it’s a really clear read. You could read it with someone to help get them started, but it’s definitely a book that teens will find relatable and helpful to point them in the right direction to live a life for Jesus.
