Our Kids Pick for 2021 is a rare find, a book about sin for children!

Arlo and the Great Big Cover-up’ is a wonderful book that illustrates sin in a tangible way for young kids to comprehend.  Kids will certainly relate to Arlo’s predicaments in the story – temptation, the realisation of anticipated punishment, the fear that leads to the “great big cover-up” and finally, when it all comes crashing down.

This book is a helpful aid to explain sin, in a way that will instantly resonate with children.  The writer also uses Arlo’s mum as an instrument of grace, to bring the good news of Jesus and the hope of forgiveness that we have in Him, without diminishing the effects of Arlo’s wrongdoing.  The story serves as a great reminder for parents or carers to consider everyday moments as opportunities to speak the truth of God’s grace into the lives of the kids in our care.

‘Arlo and the Great Big Cover-up’ is a story that will encourage kids (and adults) to remember that our heavenly Father welcomes us with open arms when we come to Him with a heart of repentance.

To coincide with our annual conference, EQUIP Picks are 10 great reads, chosen and reviewed by the EQUIP Women Team for women.
