It encourages kids (and adults!) to not play favourites but “choose to love” just like Jesus. Kids will be able to easily relate to the illustrations of favouritism in their own lives, and the clear encouragement to choose to be like Jesus in this mindset sets up the opportunity for practical, playground application conversations amongst families. There’s even a wonderful page part way through full of pictures of all the sorts of people Jesus chose to love, with Bible references to go with each one that would make for some wonderful Bible reading and discussions with older kids.
But the best part? God’s grace is so clear! Kids will be reminded that Jesus knows everyone needs rescuing from sin, no matter their background, abilities, wealth or achievements. And that they can be friends with Jesus because he chooses to love them.
