The Lord of Psalm 23 by David Gibson
For many, Psalm 23 is the most familiar chapter in the Bible. As a child my mum helped me memorise and record it on a cassette player.
However, when I read David Gibson’s book, “The Lord of Psalm 23”, the psalm took on new meaning for me. Through Gibson’s book I came to appreciate the rich scriptural theme of God dwelling with his people that is both poetically described in the psalm and in all of Scripture. As we will learn at Equip this year, we do not travel the journey of this life alone. Jesus our Shepherd has gone before us and is with us now, guiding us safely home.
This book is accessible for women of all ages. The nine bite-sized chapters could be incorporated into a quiet time, read before bed or discussed in a book club. Personally, I am planning on giving this book as a gift to my grandparents!
It is my prayer that you may savour this book and, as I have, treasure the truth that Jesus, “the greatest, strongest, and most gentle and generous shepherd, is with us.” (Gibson, 2023, 82).
