The End of Me | Liz Wann

For me those first parenting years sometimes felt a bit more like drowning in a raging river than gracefully gliding like a duck on a calm lake.

As a young adult I spent much of my time doing children’s ministry. Parents would sometimes comment to me how great with the kids I was, and what a wonderful mother I’d make one day. And I believed it! I loved kids and thought I’d take to motherhood like a duck to water. But for me those first parenting years sometimes felt a bit more like drowning in a raging river than gracefully gliding like a duck on a calm lake. That’s why I’m delighted that this little book has been written.

Author Liz Wann speaks about her own experience of becoming a mother with a particular emphasis on how it affected her spiritually. She describes coming to the end of her self-sufficiency in the trenches of child rearing and needing to be reminded of the one who is carrying her. This book will point you to the goodness of the gospel and the hope and confidence we can have in Jesus, even as we struggle in mothering. As we come to the end of ourselves yet again, she reminds us, he is there offering us a new beginning. This book is short, easy to read and would be a lovely gift for a new mum, or a great encouragement to those who are finding mothering difficult.
